A Cat is not a Dog

I can’t tell you the number of days when I look at one of our 4 cats (yes 4) and say to them “You have No idea how good your life is!" 
Of course, I say it with a wistful smile knowing they understand exactly what I’m saying. Then they look at me, squint their eyes, turn and go about doing what it is that cats do.  
Cat lovers know what that is.  

Why do some people insist on comparing cats to dogs? 
They say things like "I'm a dog person" or
“I don’t like cats because they don’t listen like a dog does."

I don't know, I just don't get it.
